Daphne Howard has qualified for the Rose of Tralee competition in Tralee which will on RTE 17th and 18th August at 8pm each night. Daphne is a national school teacher in Tashinny National school this year but will be returning to her main school in Sandford Parish Dublin in September. Her parents Richard and Ann and she has one brother Robert. She is an active member of St Paul’s church Newtownforbes where is plays the organ for special occasions. Ann is a very active member of Mothers’ Union, we wish Daphne the Best of Luck!

DEDICATION TO THE MEMORY OF MAVIS ROLSTON
Mavis' husband and two of her daughters with Valerie Stewart pictured in front of the framed cross stitch of Mothers’ Union Prayer in memory of Mavis Rolston. Mavis was a long-standing member of the branch and branch secretary from 1999 to 2010. She was also involved at Diocesan Level. Mavis died in a tragic road traffic accident on her way home from the All-Ireland Council in March 2010.

A Diocesan Quiet Day was held in March in Rossorry Parish, Clogher Dioceses. The Day began with Holy Communion, celebrated by the Bishop and assisted by the Rector of Rossorry, Canon Arthur Barrett. The Speaker was Rev Grace Clunie, who is the director of Celtic Spirituality based in Armagh.. At the end of the meeting Grace was presented with a Prayer Shawl knitted by Eileen Bleakley of Irvinestown Branch. This idea was formed by two American ladies who decided this would be their ministry to the church in which they worshipped.
